To support weak limbs for orthopaedically handicapped, appliances are given. Different disabilities require different appliances for rehabilitation. SEC make appliances for the physically challenged children, who often face problems obtaining them due to high costs and long waiting periods. SEC is able to make and provide appliances totally free of cost to students, thanks to donations from individuals, NGOs and philanthropist donors.
Also, although conventional calipers can be useful, they are not always accepted by children. So, SEC therapists and technicians are working on developing light weight, easy to manage appliances. Currently, appliances are made of light weight polypropylene and help children to stand erect and learn how to balance themselves properly. Each appliance is custom-built and made to size, based on the height and weight of the child. As children grow, their appliances need to be maintained and repaired from time to time. Most repairs and maintenance are carried out at SEC workshops on premise.
Society for the Education of the Crippled has a workshop in Antophill & Kanhe Phata
